Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses the Film Tom Cruise is giving his blessing to Glen Powell as he takes on the starring role in a Hollywood action film. Powell recently told people that after seeing the trailer for The Running Man, Cruise couldn’t stop grinning.
When asked by SFX, Powell, who is 36, explained what it was like for the first time.
“Watching that teaser with Tom Cruise is a memory I will never forget,” he said. “He was so stoked after watching it. What’s been amazing about my relationship with Tom is the fact he’s a guy that doesn’t hide this excitement. He loves the theatrical experience and working hard and putting your body on the line to entertain audiences.”
A Star-Studded Cast Joins Powell in Action-Packed Remake
The movie which Edgar Wright is directing, stars Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera and Katy O’Brian. In this movie, Powell plays the main role which Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the original, in a story set in the future about criminals forced to fight for their lives on TV. The movie will be released on November 7 and fans are looking forward to Wright’s unique version of the film.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses the Film
While it is expected that Powell will live up to Schwarzenegger’s famous role, he has the blessing of the original actor. While speaking to People, the Twisters star revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger approves of the reboot.
“Arnold gave us his blessing,” Powell said. “Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold. I hadn’t seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria. Arnold gave us his fun blessing, and we get to give him a very specific fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here. So I’m very excited to see him.”
Passing the Action Hero Torch?
Since both Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger are involved, The Running Man by Powell is set to be a big event at the movies. It is still too early to know if it matches up to the others in the series, but one thing we can say is that Glen Powell is well on his way to becoming a major action hero—with many famous actors supporting his progress from the sidelines.
