Prince Harry has been left devastated after facing a major setback involving the charity he co-founded, Sentebale. The Duke of Sussex reportedly broke down in tears upon learning of the latest developments, which have left him feeling “hurt and wounded.”
Accusations Rock Prince Harry’s Charity
The controversy stems from an alleged dispute between Harry and Sentebale’s chairwoman, Sophie Chandauka. The situation escalated after Prince Harry was accused of “harassment and bullying” toward Chandauka, claims that have reportedly shocked and deeply upset him. Prince Harry’s close friend Alex Rayner, who attended Eton with him and joined him on a 2012 expedition to the North Pole, revealed that he spoke to the Duke over the weekend. According to Rayner, Harry is struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
“He is in total shock,” Rayner told MailOnline. “It feels as if he has had one of his fingers cut off. He is just beyond heartbroken and flabbergasted that the charity he founded as a teenager has been taken hostage by the chair. It feels tantamount to a hostile takeover.”
Will Harry Walk Away or Fight Back?
Rayner admitted that Prince Harry is unsure of his next steps regarding Sentebale, saying,
“I think it’s too early to tell whether he will just walk away now or whether he might try and get it back.”
Numerous trustees decided to leave the organization because they experienced conflicts with Chandauka, while other members actively promoted her resignation from leadership.
Meghan Markle Dragged Into the Controversy
Rayner stepped forward to support Prince Harry by explaining that the allegations surfaced because of envy toward his wife, Meghan Markle. Harry supposedly sent a powerful message to Chandauka that many describe as nasty after she did not confirm in public that Meghan and the charity were harmonious.
Chandauka expressed to Prince Harry that he sought her removal from Sentebale through oppressive bullying and harassing tactics. The ex-trustee source who used to work alongside Harry’s supporters categorized Chandauka’s statements as nothing more than attention-grabbing publicity.
A Charity Close to Prince Harry’s Heart
Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho teamed up in 2006 to create Sentebale through which they dedicated to commemorating Princess Diana. The charity devotes its services to help vulnerable children and young people in southern Africa who are most affected by HIV and AIDS. The center of scrutiny against his organization requires Prince Harry to determine his upcoming actions regarding this personal organizational test.
