Tay-K Convicted Again: Rapper Faces New Prison Term for Second Murder Case

Famous rapper Tay-K achieved stardom through his 2017 hit song “The Race” before being convicted for murder twice. Taymor McIntyre, who is known as the 24-year-old artist, currently serves a 55-year prison term after participating in the 2016 home invasion and murder of Ethan Walker. Tay-K was convicted by a Texas jury for killing photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar in 2017.
A Deadly Encounter During His Time on the Run
Tay-K suffered his latest conviction for an offense that happened during his time as a fugitive back in April 2017. The young musician effectively removed his ankle monitor and then escaped from house confinement just before his court date regarding the Walker case. San Antonio became the scene of a fake photography job where prosecutors allege Saldivar received robbery and subsequent murder at the hands of Tay-K and accomplices.
After being placed in the automobile, Saldivar lost his camera equipment through an armed robbery, which resulted in his murder. The authorities discovered Saldivar’s body close to a Chick-fil-A, although Tay-K, who was 17 at that time, ended up getting arrested in New Jersey. Tay-K recorded “The Race” only shortly before police authorities arrested him, although the track implied his run from law enforcement. The musical track achieved massive viral success, and YouTube users watched it more than 250 million times.
Facing Decades More Behind Bars
Tay-K avoided getting convicted of capital murder for his first offense, which mandated a life sentence, but received an additional 5 to 99 years in prison from his second murder conviction. John Hunter, who represented him as a defense attorney, argued that the prosecution leaned too heavily on weak evidence alongside witnesses who struggled to maintain consistency in their accounts.
“You have to do the work. And this case clearly demonstrates the work wasn’t done,” he told local outlet KSAT.
A Troubled Past Catching Up
Beyond the current charges, Tay-K faces three aggravated robbery counts that have resulted in longer jail time, together with elevated monetary penalties for his existing punishment. The court records indicate he needs to serve at least one-half of his prison term before becoming eligible for parole.
His previous music success has turned into an example of what not to do. The fugitive lifestyle that led Tay-K to create his biggest hit will force him to serve his prison term before seeing daylight.
