President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will travel to New Orleans on Monday following a terror attack on New Year’s Day that claimed the lives of 14 people and injured dozens more. The White House said they will visit to stand with the victims’ families and the rest of the community still reeling from the tragedy.
Details of the Attack
The attack happened in the early hours of Wednesday when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, aged 42 years, rammed a pickup truck into revelers on Bourbon Street. Jabbar was immobilized by law enforcement officers at the scene. FBI confirmed that Jabbar was alone when he released bullets and an explosion, and the case was sure to have been motivated solely by ISIS.
President Joe Biden’s Response
President Joe Biden spoke to the nation on Thursday; he insisted that his administration will ensure sufficient funding for an independent probe. In addition to the attack in New Orleans, police are including a New Year’s Day event in Las Vegas where a car exploded near a building owned by Trump. Until this point, investigators have failed to establish a connection between the two occurrences, yet Biden overemphasized the need to establish all connections possible.
