Lady Gaga Opens Up About Her Mental Health and the Love That Changed Her Life

Lady Gaga maintained her practice of openness toward her personal life struggles when she appeared in a recent interview to share details about her mental health experience. When she appeared on The Interview podcast from The New York Times, Lady Gaga discussed a hard time in her life, which included psychotic experiences, together with the vital role love played in her recovery process.
“I Was Not Deeply in Touch with Reality”
Early in the discussion, Lady Gaga described the start of a tough period that occurred five years ago.
“I had psychosis. I was not deeply in touch with reality for a while,” she admitted. “It took me out of life in a big way, and after a lot of years of hard work, I got myself back.”
Her words highlight the immense struggle she faced and the strength it took to regain control over her life.
Finding Love During a Challenging Time
The Fame singer also opened up about her first encounter with her fiancé, Michael Polansky. Meeting him, she explained, was a turning point during a difficult time.
“It was actually really special when I met my partner because, at that point, I was in a much better place,” Gaga recalled.
She shared a moment that stood out early in their relationship—one that challenged her but also helped her grow.
“I remember him saying to me, pretty early on, ‘I know you could be a lot happier than you are,’” she revealed. It was really hard for me to hear him say that because I didn’t want him to think that of me. I wanted him to think I was this happy, totally together person.”
A Love That Transformed Her Life
Despite her initial hesitation, Lady Gaga acknowledged the profound impact Michael has had on her well-being.
“From the moment that I met Michael, he had the most warm and kind disposition of maybe anyone that I had met in my whole life,” she said.
Her heartfelt words reflect the deep bond they share and how his presence has been a source of strength and comfort for her.
A Love Story That Began in 2019
The dating rumors between Lady Gaga and Michael emerged publicly in 2019 for people who did not know about their relationship. The next month after meeting in July 2024, they decided to get married.
The music artist Lady Gaga demonstrates how strength and right healing combine with romantic affection through her life story. After enduring her battles she found a person who appreciates her genuine self and enables her self-evolution.
