While Prince William and Princess Kate decided to spend some quality time in the Alps with their kids, King Charles was introduced to some bad news concerning one of the esteemed links in the royal family. The family-owned and -operated greengrocer store Partridges is to shut down the flagship store in the Chelsea area of London after 53 years of operation.
An institution endorsed by royal patronage
Partridges has been a part of the royal family for many years and enjoys the royal seal it got a royal warrant from Queen Elizabeth II district in 1994. King Charles also recently bestowed the royal accolade on the facility, which is a sure sign of the institution’s link to the monarchy. This store has always prized fine quality merchandise that it has offered to the royal family; hence its closure is quite a tragedy.
King Charles Shifting Business Focus
Even though it closed its Chelsea outlet, you shouldn’t completely rule out the brand yet. With this in mind, the owners have proposed that they will be opening less number of large stores, rather distribute new stores in the entire country with the preference to take small stores all over London. Also, earlier in the year Partridges became a carbon-free store for two of its shops in Chelsea and Gloucester Road while King Charles, the owner has been an environmentally conscious personality for quite some time now.
An End of an Era
Apart from catering for the royal family, the Partridges were major suppliers of artisanal traders through the fine food market at the Duke of York Square which had been held almost every Saturday for years. Thus, while the story of the company at Chelsea is brought to an end, the Company is keen to change and pursue its story in other ways. With this closure, King Charles loses a part of himself and ends a complex, lengthy, and essential relationship between the royals and the public favorited organization.
