The new U.S. passport issued to Hunter Schafer shows the wrong gender marker of male though she marked ‘female’ on the application as the transgender woman and Euphoria star. She showed shocking surprise through a TikTok video as the passport document displayed an “M” marker instead of an F. The previous passport held by the individual properly recognized her as female.
Blaming Trump’s Gender Policies
Hunter Schafer criticized Trump administration policies during her TikTok video believing they were responsible for this issue. Trump implemented his order regarding two sex categories together with document modification restrictions soon after his reentry as president.
The current U.S. government passport policy emits “M” or “F” markers which adhere to birth-based sex definitions; this methodology opposes previous gender options provided by the Biden administration through 2022.
Passport Trouble Ahead of Travel Plans
Hunter Schafer filed for passport replacement following the theft of her original passport which occurred while she was working abroad. The application forms had a Female checked for her gender but the replacement document showed Male identification. The scheduled international travel is pending for next week and the actress worries about airport difficulties.
“I’m pretty sure it’s going to come along with having to out myself to border patrol agents way more than necessary,” she said.
“This is Real and It’s Happening”
Trump’s executive order states that male and female sexes “are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.” It further clarifies that “‘sex’ is not a synonym for and does not include the concept of ‘gender identity’.”
The policy change created no impact on Hunter Schafer’s life when she initially learned about it.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” she recalled thinking. “Today, I saw it.”
The actress made changes to her driver’s license and passports when she was 18 years old but her birth certificate remained unaltered.
“I just feel like it’s important to share that it’s not just talk—this is real and it’s happening. And no one, no matter how wealthy or white or pretty, is excluded,” she said.
