Hailey Bieber has started talking publicly about the ordeal she went through when giving birth to her first son, Jack Bieber, in August 2024. During an interview with Vogue, the model and entrepreneur, who is 28, talked about how hard labor and recovery were.

I Said It Was the Hardest Step I’ve Ever Taken

The Rhode founder said that although she practiced for giving birth, she was not prepared for the moments that took place in the delivery room.

“Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Hailey confessed. “They broke my water. I went into labor and I labored for a few hours. No epidural, nothing.”

But in spite of Irene’s positive attitude, things got dangerous very rapidly. Hailey Bieber had a postpartum hemorrhage 18 hours after labor which frightened and disturbed her deeply.

She talked about the birth itself and how it affected her emotionally afterward. She explained that being a first-time mom was confusing and exposed her emotions which made things harder because of rumors about her marriage to Justin Bieber.

“Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life,” she said. “Learning a new version of myself is very difficult.”

She added that constantly being the subject of online gossip only added to her struggles:

“To be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, ‘They’re getting divorced,’ and ‘They’re not happy’—I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.”
