The 2025 Cannes Film Festival was as glamorous as always on its red carpet, but things took an extra turn for Emma Stone: a butterfly decided to join her. When Emma Stone was standing with her co-stars on the red carpet for their new film Eddington on May 16, a bee promptly interrupted and surprised her.
Calm Living to Chaos in a Moment
Margo has performed scary roles and was able to keep calm around creepy dolls, but a bee that came too close really surprised her and put her on high alert. At first, two-time Oscar winner waved the bug away with her hand, but somehow this agitated the insect only further.
Fortunately, Emma Stone wasn’t alone. As she became afraid and ready to run, Pedro Pascal, 50, calmly tried to fend off the insect from her, placing his hand between them and Austin Butler, 33, bent down and tried to brush the insect away with a puff of air. Stone pulled Pascal toward her and ducked behind his back, making both of them play their roles as though they were really in danger which made the crowd burst into applause.
A Story Worth Cherishing
As soon as the bee was gone, the group started laughing and got themselves together quickly. They gracefully posed again for the photographers, taking a moment of disorder and turning it into a treasured moment of the evening. Fans on X (the previous name of Twitter) gushed online about the bee incident when it was over.
“Oh, to be Emma Stone getting protected by Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler from a bee,” one fan joked. Another wrote, “Even bees can’t resist Emma Stone’s star power.”
All Eyes on Eddington
Even with the bee incident, the big news was the Eddington premiere which got a lot of positive attention. In the United States, the film will release on July 18, 2025, with Emma Stone, Pascal and Butler starring in it.
Despite all the struggles, including those at the box office or with bugs, Emma Stone remains fascinating with A-list actors supporting her.
