James Corden invites Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan, and Dua Lipa for a carpool karaoke holiday special which delivers entertaining performances that will help create a festive mood of Christmas. Premiered on Sunday night via Apple TV, the program is an hour-long see-and-be-seen affair, with Lowe shifting from guest driver’s seat to the duet partner for the pop idols.
A Musical Journey Across the Globe
For this special, Lowe’s task was to organize carpooling for the artists with special carpool experiences that responded to every artist. He toured astonishingly in Missouri for Chappell Roan, in Tokyo for Dua Lipa, and in Los Angeles for Lady Gaga. All segments include holiday songs and tunes chosen specifically for each artist, as well as some favorite tunes uploaded by the artists themselves.
The last drive saw Lowe form part of Gaga’s band and perform a lively version of ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.’ The performance closed the show with a lively flair and while the music video is yet to be out the recording is an independent audio track. She also sang one of her songs during the Christmas performance which was typical for her as the gig was a festive cliché.
Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan bring a holiday vibe
Dua Lipa also joined the festive fun with her cover of the Ronettes’ 1963 hit: ‘Sleigh Ride’. The segment demonstrated how she can move from expanding modern pop to holiday trippiness perfectly. At the same time, Chappell Roan sang a Wham’s “Last Christmas” and showed us more about her life by taking Lowe to her family farm in Missouri. Probably the most amusing segment of the event was a little joke when Roan presented a chicken named Lady Gaga.
A Merry Christmas & A Corporation That Cares
The special recreates the feel of Christmas yesteryear and includes both well-known Christmas tunes and lesser-heard renditions of them. A Very Carpool Karaoke Christmas still sticks to the basic principle of the show, but because of its intriguing form and astonishing performance of famous personalities, it will bring the brightest and happiest emotions to every viewer regardless his age. While fully utilizing the potential of its stars, the episode gives the viewers a holiday mood using music and friendship. Fortunately, this exciting holiday delight is streamable now, exclusively on Apple TV for the audience.
