
The music icon Celine Dion officially warned the public about unauthorized artificial intelligence replication of her vocal performances which result in the illegal distribution of fake music attributed to her. Celine Dion shared an official warning through Instagram on March 7 about artificially generated music that impersonates her voice and uses her name without authorization.
Celine Dion’s Firm Stance on AI-Generated Music
Through her Instagram post, Celine Dion stated that she neither supports nor accepts AI-generated songs because of misappropriated voice and name usage.
“It has come to our attention that unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Celine Dion’s musical performances, and name and likeness, is currently circulating online and across various Digital Service Providers,” the statement read.
During the speech, she requested listeners to pay attention since the recordings did not include her authorized music collection.
Not the First Time Dion Has Fought Back
The fight against unauthorized music use marks one of many occasions where Celine Dion has had to defend her musicianship. Dion previously condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump for using My Heart Will Go On against her wishes at a political event.
The surge of AI music creation has prompted Celine Dion to rejoin other artists who continue fighting for their rights in the music industry.

During April 2024 nearly 200 musicians joined forces to publish an open anti-AI music making statement. Through the leadership of the Artists Rights Alliance musicians launched an initiative to get more powerful rules that would defend artists against AI copy operations unauthorized by them.
A significant group of musicians comprising Billie Eilish, Billy Porter, Brothers Osborne, Camila Cabello, Darius Rucker, FINNEAS, Imagine Dragons, J Balvin, Jonas Brothers, Jon Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, Metro Boomin, Miranda Lambert, Noah Kahan, Norah Jones, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Zayn Malik came together to sign an open letter opposing AI-driven music generation in April 2024.

AI technology development rate increases the urgency of ethical and legal problems which stem from its utilization within the music sector. The music industry’s artists worry about AI-produced songs since lack of clear regulations allow for creational infringement and unauthorized use of their artistic identity without proper payment.
