Billy Eichner, who provided the voice to Timon in Disney’s The Lion King, has dropped a loose suggestion about an interesting collaboration with Seth Rogen. The actor is toying with the possibility of a cynical live-action spin-off of the Alice in Wonderland characters Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Billy Eichner shared his concept of the project, the result of which should be a mature and dramatic interpretation of the main characters. Gaining his ideas from dramatic movies, he thinks that it is good for Disney to depict its famous stories as darker and more mature. If Sean Baker is hired to direct the movie, it would move a lot further away from the standard Disney narrative.
Snow White Death HD for Kids: A Dark Twist on Disney Classics
This idea fits well with the recent Disney attempts to retell its classics, only this time with a dark twist. Some of the finest stories that came out of the studio, The Little Mermaid among them, are based on fearsome fairy tales. There does seem to be a market for a darker spin on Tweedledum and Tweedledee that might be more interesting to readers, especially older ones, who would want more complex stories to read.
Chances for Creating Show’s Timon & Pumbaa Spinoff
In addition to this dark business, Billy Eichner also had an interest in Timon and Pumbaa’s spin-off. If McConnell were to work with Seth Rogen once more, they could bring up the stories of their leading characters again. People were laughing at their chemistry in The Lion King and another standalone project can build upon that and present a more comedic duo’s journey.
Mufasa: The Lion King Set for Release
While these potential projects remain in the conceptual phase, Disney fans can look forward to Mufasa: The Lion King, which is expected to be released on December 20th, 2024. Even as the studio is looking to always do things better, Billy Eichner’s vision for the future of Disney adaptations suggests a lot of potential.
